Zayed National Football Stadium
Zayed National Football Stadium constructed in the 1970s is one of Abu Dhabi’s oldest and most iconic structures, which to this day hosts some of the largest events in the city.
As lead design consultant AAID were appointed by Mubadala (Abu Dhabi’s leading asset and development company) to carry out this 48 million AED refurbishment. AAID were tasked to rejuvenate an aging cultural landmark, to bring together various previous works into a cohesive scheme. These works included a major overhaul of MEP systems to conform to local codes. An external works master plan was also developed and designed by AAID. This was focused on enhancing the fan experience and interaction with the stadium. AAID’s scope also included attaining statutory approval for the VIP lounge, management offices, third party offices, concourses and WC’s. AAID were also tasked in presenting a new vision for the painting and way-finding of the stadium. This in tangent works with the external landscape design to ease the fan journey throughout the stadium.
